The Texas Boys Choir was entered in the National Choral Honors Project this past spring. We recently received word that the choir was selected as a National Winner

There were five categories of the competition and the choir won the boychoir category.  The other categories included:  High School Mixed Chorus, High School Open Class, Middle School Treble Choir, and Middle School Open Class.

The National Choral Honors Project is a national competition, entered by recordings and blindly judged, in which the top quarter are selected as National Winners, and the second quarter receive Commended Honors.  One hundred fifty-five orchestras, bands and choir entered this year from 28 states.

The adjudicator for the project was Dr. Lawrence Kaptein, who is the Director of Choral Music Studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder.  Here he conducts the acclaimed University Singers and the Colorado Conductors Chorus.  Dr. Kaptein was also the conductor of the Texas Men's All-State Choir this past February, in which Eric Danielson was a member.
